In an exclusive sit-down with VLMAG MUSIC, Eli Baker breaks down the deeply personal world behind his new album 'Party in My Room' — a project born from COVID-era intimacy, heartbreak, and rediscovering himself through music.
Eli Baker walks into his VLMAG MUSIC exclusive with zero pretense. 'Yo, what's good, y'all? It's I am Eli Baker. I'm here with VL Magazine,' he says, pulling the camera straight into his world before the conversation even gets started. That energy — open, unfiltered, real — sets the tone for everything he's about to share.

The project at the center of it all is Party in My Room, or as Baker shortens it: 'P in My Room.' And before you pigeonhole it by the title, hear the artist out. 'It's an album about love, loneliness, heartbreak, falling for somebody,' Baker explains. 'It's captivating that whole feeling.' This isn't a party record — it's a record about what happens when the party is small enough to matter.

The origin story is rooted in a moment most people remember for entirely different reasons. Going back to COVID times, Baker describes how isolation quietly became a creative crucible. 'I would throw like little three, four, five person parties in my room,' he says. 'A lot of crazy things happened out of that, but ultimately it just felt fun — falling back in love with my craft, music. Falling in love with people.' What the world lost in scale, Baker found in depth.

That intimacy is the album's beating heart. Rather than chasing a big-room sound, Baker leaned into the emotional texture of close quarters — the vulnerability, the connection, the confusion that comes with proximity to people you care about. The result is a project that maps the full emotional arc: love, loneliness, heartbreak, and what he calls 'refinding and discovering yourself.'

Baker's listening instructions say it all: 'Close the door, have a couple of people, and really vibe to it. Really feel that love, that heartbreak, that loneliness, that refinding and discovering yourself.' He's not just releasing an album — he's curating an experience, one built for the same intimate settings that inspired it.
